I've Arrived
At a dangerous momnet
In my life
A dilemma, A choice of life and dead
On this I need feedback
From all who wish to share
Their experience
These thoughts are racing
Through my mind
As I stare out my window
At my growing garden
Within my enclosed patio
Even though
I've a life threatening decision
My Jasmines beckon me
As they are freshly blooming
They communicate
Come!
Take a gentle sniff of me.

Reality smacks me
On the side of my head
Your're drifting again
I say to myself
You see!
I've just been diagnosed
"Borderline Diabetic"
By a young Doctor
Who wants to place me
On diabetic medication
I pleaded with him not to
I wish to try natural withdrawl
Of my sugar habits
Please I begged him, don't
Still he prepared
A prescription
I know
What this so call medication
Will do to my system.
No more
Will I be the same
No more Will I decide
The medication will be a must.

What say you?
Of my Dilemma, Should I Take it?
Or try withdrawing
Since I am only "Borderline"
Please help me
You see, I've Already
Lost my battle with the Jasmines
As I lower my nostrils
Upon the heavenly scent
That emits into the gentle breeze
Tantalizing my senses
My emotions running high
A tear I feel
At the corner of my eyes
As I sniff the finest scent
On this side of heaven.

Good writing, and informative. I never knew you needed meds for borderline diabetes. My mom has been borderline for years and she's never taken anything. She's been fine.

Join the club, my friend. I was diagnosed that way a year ago. I'm still there; still "borderline." Just watch what you eat. "Borderline" is all right. Let's just not go "over the line." Thanks for sharing this sobering poem. Many will relate. Love and peace to you, William.

William my advise is do the research, consult more that one doctor and then you make an informed decision, one you can live with each and every day.....just take very good care of yourself, you hear?

love and peace to you my friend, Carole

I would say read and read and read more. I guess it depends on your numbers and your general health, but I know many who control their diabetes with diet and exercise...but you must do both consistently and you must test a lot. It is not a matter of watching your sugar intake it is a matter of eliminating it and watching your intake of all carbohydrates. It is also a matter of managing your fat intake because diabetes makes you more susceptible to heart problems too. You could see another doctor and a nutritionist and see what they have to say. There are some meds that just cause you to make more of your own insulin, and then there is insulin. You need to understand what you need and get a second opinion. But don't wait; diabetes left unchecked can be a fatal disease.
Take care,
Sherry

Maybe try to get a second opinion even third if still in doubt, William, before taking any medication and as Kate suggested, do a lot of research, watch your diet too. Try herbal treatments too - Asians are very good at that - but get advice first.

We all have our ailments - some more serious than others - but we learn to live with them. Just don't despair. Wishing you all the best, William.

God bless,

Sandie.

Can you go to another doctor to get a second opinion? Sometimes, two heads are better than one. I know, you don't want to get addicted to the medication yet. If it wasn't necessary, then you'd rather not take it. In my humble opinion, any dependencies on any kind of medication is not good if you can be healed naturally.

Get a second or a third opinion first before taking the medication.

Hope you will sort this out very soon.

This is a decision for you to make that I know is difficult. You need to decide whether you are willing to do a lot of research and then do what you are taught in the basic's of food and exercise. Keep in touch with your doctor through this process. Do not remove all sugars. I thought this was the answer when helping my ex for his next appointment. His blood showed a lack of sugar that is just as dangerous as too much. I am sure if you work with your doctor both of you will be happy with the results. Let your doctor know you want to do this without medication but be willing to go in for extra checkups to keep an eye on whether it is working or not. If not then take the medication and........watch what you eat, while exercising. This is MHO feel free to discard it if it does not feel right to you.

William I have been borderline diabetic for 8 years now, and never took anything for it. In fact my doctor said I don't have to if I watched a few things in my diet. I eat normally, a low fat heart diet, and that seems to be fine. Don't let me influence you though, see what others have to say. We are all different. Only you know your body and what it needs, so act accordingly as yu said to refrain from foods you know can harm you. That should be enough. Sometimes pills cause more problems than they help, I know that for a fact. Take care. I'll keep you in prayer!

Love,
Eileen

OO I found a book called the Fat Flush Plan.
It's not a looney book. But if it does fail. Eat the book.
Good luck..
