I sit on a sofa
Head resting on two cushions
Gazing aimlessly
At a ceiling Fan
Watching it shuffling
The light and shadows
Like fluffy egg whites
Being folded into a cake mix
Hence
Extracting a brezze
That presently comforts my face
Beneath the warm sweat.
I can hear my siblings
Carried away
By a contest we made up
Laughing and having fun
Their laughter
Filtered through my mind
As my eyes rolled
Into the back of my head
I am surrounded by their laughter
It swallows me into a vortex
Where healthy laughter
Unfolds like a blossoming Rose
Into mischievious giggles
Back to the times
Of old grade school songs.
I find myself
In my childhood living room
As we sang along
I can see my mom
Cooking in the kitchen
With her eternal smile
Printed on her lovely face
My father, I saw sitting
At the table, Playing solitaire
Listening to the radio
Smoking a long Paul Mall
An ash tip two inches long
Which never hit the ground
He cup his butt, with one hand
Shaking it into an ashtray
Of moments lost in time
A gentle voice
Alert me I was drifting
As I am asked to join the game.
Great imagery!! L o v e the fluffy egg whites! The way you let
memory drift with the rotation of the fan and the play of light
and shadow. Evocative and memorable!! 'Pea' <3
