Field of dreams
Over tired, no schemes
Just laying on top of my bed
Sleep descends upon me none.
Hard to breathe
Weather is hot and muggy
No pain in my bones
Air conditioner is off
How long can I survive?
Sun setting
Night is certain
Cruelty dwell within
The unknown that's ahead
A wounded beast
Yelps in the darkness
No one cares.
Ruffling of dry leaves
By your feet
Hides
The slithering creatures 'neath
Passing safely by your feet.
Low fog moving in
Shadows slinking through
Your mind's hidden corridors
Demons waiting at the window
As you try to escape
to seek that dream
Of no return.
A heart cease to beat
Breath is my last
silence will meet me
As infinity embraces me.
Ah William, a deeply moving poem, so very powerful are the images in this excellent poem, excellently expressed.

Wow, this is very moody- and I know I am going to sound really odd, but the slithering part reminded me of in "When the Grinch stole Christmas," when the grinch is slithering on his stomach beneath the xmas trees :) You definately have the darkness in this peace, which really hits the reader at the end.
This is powerfully moving even in verbal simplicity, commonplace. Left me totally feeling A Sleepless Night! This is indeed by my standards excellent work for it left a feeling intense. BRAVO!
You and George on the samne page today! This is another deep soulful poem William. I know that feel of demons attempting to ensnare, as sleep evades us and our minds wander. You have been reaching ever higher levels with your writing of late. Bravo!
This you need to read over and over again to grasp the depth and intensity of the words....until it pulls you right in and keeps you there breathless and sweaty...like dope........lol...gotsha!!
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
