Tired
Just woke up
Had breafast
Yet my eyes want to close
I want to lay down
And never wake up
I want to ease
Into eternal sleep
Knowing I'll not rest
Till I'll reach infinity.

My eyes are tired
I want to lay down
To sleep
As within my mind
I'll feel free
A feeling that's unknown
To me.

The pain I don't feel
Till on my feet
I attempt to be
I feel my eyes
Wanting to close
Please let me be.

How selfish of me
Can I be?
What about my lovely
Grandchildren?
What will they think of me?
What will they say?
Will they read my poetry?
Will they feel
What I felt as I wrote
My compositions
What I tried to convey
In so few words.

Sleep, sleep, sleep
Will I rest?
If I close my eyes
Am I afraid to lay down?
I am Tired.

i just want to sleep
I've forgotten what's like
To feel well rested
To walk without pain.

When I walk, when I stand
Are my moments of regret
I am Tired
My body wants to rest
Let me lay down
Let me close my eyes
Allow me to enter a sleep
Please wake me not ever
Let me feel free
Let me just fall asleep.

William, So very sad, yet touching, and I feel that we all feel that way at one time or another, but what would the world do without us, not that some people would not miss us, but what about the grandchildren, especially when the states hands them over to one, to take care of, and pain, there are so many people with pain, that we have no clue what they are going through, and those are the ones that are probably wishing every time they close their eyes, they would not wake up, just because, all they feel is pain, but God gave us all life, what we do with it is up to us, although some walks of life has had more than their share of trials and error, and the best has not came their way, sometimes life just keeps knocking them down. We all think our life is a bummer at one time or another, then we come across someone in our journey, and listen to what they had to go through to get where they are today, then you have an admiration and respect, the ones that sit back and whine about the failures in their life are the ones that no one needs to be around, esepcailly when you lend them a hand or a kind word, and they still rather do what they do, living like they do and not stepping forward to make change for the better for them and their loved ones. Never give up,,just get some sleep,,how wonderful that would BE!!!,,,sleep,,that is certainly what we are lacking around here, since we've had the granddaughters,,we used to a nice quiet life, but not now,,but in the long run,,it will pay off, and that is our job, to take of these little ones, for mom thinks partying is more important,,that's what you do, when you're kids are gone, well most of us get to do that,,,lol,,,clea

This breaks my heart, William...As a sufferer of OsteoArthritis, a bone on bone desease in my knees, I know very well the agony of never ending pain, of the effort it takes to walk or even stand. And yet, I continue on, cause there's so much still, to do and learn, and most of all, so much more to share! Hang in there, my friend!

A deeply touching write, if not heartbreaking. Pain can be an evil monster that will not let you rest and it is so hard to fight it.

tired adult and William you have
captured this feeling...this wish

I've had my own bouts with insomnia William and wrote til I was exhausted and still couldn't sleep. I wished for death and even thought that being forever awake was Hell. I eventually caught up...for now. Your poem reminded me of those same thoughts.
Get some rest...try a cup of cammomil tea.

William this is so bittersweet! Beautifully written! I understand what you mean ,and I hope you can find the gift of inspiration to go on...I too pray for it each day, especially living in pain while seeing the world implode before our eyes.It is anything but easy...
My thoughts and prayers are with you,I agree with Joseph! Besides your poetry is still vibrant and wonderful!;-)

Dear William,

I, too, am tired but I realize I still have so much more to give before I leave this world ... just like you, my friend. My prayer for you is that you will have a re-awakening, just like spring.

Love & Light,
Joseph
