Dried As The Desert Sand

My heart was drenched
With tender love
You once
Bathe my soul with
Now my heart and soul
Cry in the night
For you
My heart you have wrung
Of all your love
You once adorned
My soul with
I was left hanging
To dry.

I still crave
The softness of your lips
The nectar
I once tasted
I taste no more
Left parched of your love
Like
The cracked desert sand
That yearns for the rain
Of life
So does my heart
Still yearns
For the treasured love
I once knew
In thoughts, of my losing sanity
You still dwell
Tormented
For eternal damnation
I have been sentenced
By The Gods
Of forbidden love.

I like this poem. Its contents and imagery make One imagine and leads One to an ontologic and romantic trip.

Who's to say it would have lasted even if you managed to prolong the relationship..love ( or infatuation) has a way of waning when there's no threat of it being lost..human nature is soooo precarious..and one more thing ..we sure love FEELING the feeling of lost love..tantilizing indeed..mmm..

btw I hear ya..believe me I do!

I've saved this one..good stuff!

True love is a double-edged sword, William. Though it is the most worderful feeling we will ever know, when it goes away, we feel the aching in every molecule of our being and sometimes even time does not ease the suffering. Wonderful writing.
Take care,
Sherry

Is there such a thing as "forbidden love?" Such seems like there is on this world. I can totally relate to these verses of yours, William. Thank you for sharing them. Love and peace to you,
