Listen!
A child Is hungry
He cries
A child needs the warmth
Of a mother
he sobs himself to sleep
Within a blanket on the floor
Sucking his tiny thumb
He needs the nourishment
Full bosoms can provide
Mom lies near him
Starving
Her tits are dry.
~~~~*~~~~
There are no strong arms
To embrace him
No happy mother
To sing him a lulloby
No hymns to hum
Not even a rhyme to produce
A smile
For his eyes to see
So he may dwell within hers
She can't hardly see
Through the blur of hunger.
~~~~*~~~~
Is that a child,
You're listening to
Crying at a distance?
Where are the voices to speak
For Him?
Are there, any ears for the cries
To fall upon?
Only those who profit
From empty stomach and misery.
~~~~*~~~~
Children can only do
What they are good at
"Show and Tell"
Yet they have nothing to show
And nothing to tell
For their voices can only cry
And so another hungry child dies.
~~~~~~*~~~~~~

God, You pulled my heart OUT with this write William! YOU speak loudly and proudly of what we all need to take part in. EVERYONE! Celebrities are trying and I believe more can be done! YOur an Angel to bring it to our attention, with your imageries. I am tracking you and your words speak TRue! A keeper for my Unique folders! This touches me deeply, I help St. Judes and I make my sacrifices, for only 320. a mo. So worth it to help a child! or the research for answers for them! William, this is close to my heart on a number of levels and therefore I found it such a difficult read, if only more would DO something. Those children don't ask to be born, and they have to suffer such consequences ...gestures don't have to be huge, but even small ones just have to be made. I so applaud you for this write. Bless You. Panda :)

Heart wrenching write William! Well done! The world over people do not have their priorties right. Until humanity learns how to place things in order of importance there will be hunger and all the other ills of society. It isn't just Amrica it's the universe and wrong choices. ET

This is a heart-breaking message, William. There is something deplorably wrong with a world that gives monies for arms, but not foods for life. No government is exempt.

I have the pictures in my mind of bloated stomachs...flies in the sockets and sucking the little fliuds from eyes and lips that is left. It sickens me to death and I feel helpless when I do give...but can't give enough to save all.
You give us the true definition of need.
Love,
Susan

William,

A stinging portrait of a despicable - and needless - condition, facing millions, at home and abroad. My soul screams to see it....if everyone who "has" gave up one meal, to one who "has not", how quickly the problem would be solved!

Personally, I am involved with Apalachia and Sudan.

Thank you, bless you
Love, Rhonda

and it can happen right here, in our own backyards...In America!
This reminded me of one I wrote about "Why There is Hate!" in that sombody always profits somewhere, where another suffers because of it!
Great message here!
