"...Known as the M.I.A.,
It choked me
As the Honor Guard
Walked silently...."
It sure does, WIlliam, it sure does. One of my Uncles, we called him Uncle Duke, was a survivor of Bataan. Thank God he came home. Intact? No. He refused to talk about the horrors he experienced...many other families are still in limbo, waiting to hear A N Y T H I N G about their dads, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters...a sobering write, written with respect and sadness. Well done.
Veteran's Day I have been going for the special services at the D/FW National Cemetary, not too far from me. I've felt the heaviest sighs come when the "black" flag is posted. Your poem does honor for our MIAs, William.
got the feeling in this poetic piece William, I think for our experience a part of us is missing with these guys. My heart goes out to the police officer, firemen and soldiers. We just had a firemen killed here in Bmore
-Amen- YOu and many others have served this country with Grace!
WE could never forget a name or face~
YOu and many others deserve such honor for the sacrifices that you endured on those dark days and nights of the WARs!

The sadder heroes of War are also the families who never have closure. That is another terror we seldom hear about. My heart is heavy laden today.

To you and all who have served, thank you. I am not an American but I live here now. The freedom enjoyed by so many is as a result of the sacrifice of brave individuals. A moving tribute.

Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,

The flag that meant the most
Was that silent black flag
This truly is a flag we need to honor far more often, William, and thank you for honoring it.

I walk in cadence with your dark pen, and tears flood the gates of my heart...but I believe
'There is nothing hidden, that shall not be revealed.." St. Luke 8:17
