"Car wash, Hamster & My Grandparents"
***** The Mask *****
I lay awake on my bed
Thoughts travel back in time
Through my head
Way back when I was ten
Had and unusual dream then.
I glide within a mist
Into a room
First it seemed to me
A bit gloom.
A single bed occupied
The space within
A elderly gentle of a man
Upon it slept.
~*~
Heard him breathing
Strangely
As I approached
I noticed his folded arms
Upon his chest.
An expression of serenes
Displayed on his face
Connected
To an electrical device
Was a mask he wore.
I walked closer to him
Slowly raised a hand
softly petting an arm
As one would a puppy.
~*~
I felt
a touch upon my arm
Starled me out of my dream
I looked around my room
Thought I saw
The figure of a child
Silently walking towards
The door
He looked familiar
Yet I had no idea.
From my face
I removed a sleeping breathing
Mask
I am obligated to wear
Baffled
Towards the door
I continued to stare.

#1.***** Car Wash *****
Car Wash, Car Wash
we drive through
We are in the car wash
Splash! splash! splash!
Pop, pop, pop
Wishy washy, wishy washy
Car dry!

#2. Hamster
Hamster, Hamster
What are you doing?
I wonder all day long
What are you doing?
Then I get it!
You are dancing and dancing
And dancing
All day long.

#3.***** My Grandparents *****
My Grandparents are cool
With a spinkle of fun
There's so much to do
With my grandparetns
My grandparents are cool.
They do everything with me
Like let us ride scooters
Or take us for ice cream
My grandparents are sweet.
But my mom and dad
Are mean to my grandparents
I love my grandparents
With all my heart
And they love me too.

There is enchantment in every one of these poems, William. Through the eyes of a child is the best way to view life. Enjoyed them all...and don't forget to tell Gabrielle and Brianna!!

Your first poem was quite a riddle. The others heart warmers. All written in good style. Victor

What stirring past memories you evoke here William,...through the eyes of a child as I once said, nothing is more beautiful. Well done. Panda:)

Very touching! Brings you right into the room. Makes me think back to when my granmother was very ill and presumably died of heart failure.I can still see her laying there. Thanks for sharing this loving yet sad poem.

Your poem was most intriguing, William - and your grandchildren's poems were delightful. Grandparents are Cool!

Very interesting! I like the imagination here, or was it really a dream you had? It also touched me as my grandpa was very sick and ultimately died of cancer when I was 7. I used to sit beside him and this brings back images of that for me.
Nice one!

The mask is a bit eerie, enjoyed though...very well written, you've penned it so that you take the reader with you into the room with the elderly man. Would like to know who the little boy was that you saw in the dream. Loved car wash, I too had much fun with my maternal grandparents...just like a second set of parents, only one's whom you could get away with a bit more mischief! Great writes, both!
