A Sculptor's Dream

Caught in a dream
Dreaming I was a sculptor
Waiting to exit
So I may reward the world
With a tantalzing sculpture
Of the beautiful woman
Hidden within my dreams
And inspiration.

As I fantazie
Chiseling away at a rock
Bringing to life
An image and creation
Of a Roman Goddess
That dwells within you.

I escaped from my dream
Through a crack
In the corner of dawn
Rays of sunshine
Rinsing the sleep
From my eyes.

Reality soured my inspiration
For I am just a writer
Of verses
Whether they have rhythm
Or rhymes
With this new day
And uncertain times.

Fabulous William... and I, like some of this other adore these lines...

"...I escaped from my dream
Through a crack
In the corner of dawn
Rays of sunshine
Rinsing the sleep
From my eyes".

In my head they became a beautiful haiku...you are on a poetic roll William

A beautiful write my friend, I always viewed artists as being special gifts from God. There are those who are sculptors, those who are painters, and those that are writers all intended for a purpose, to express, inform and entertain. Enjoyed this much!

This is beautiful, William, I particularly liked these lines:

"I escaped from my dream
Through a crack
In the corner of dawn"

They are most poetic in the truest sense. A poet is a sculptor in their own "write". We form our thoughts into verses that would rival the smoothness of marble or alabaster and instill a vision of perfection in the reader.
Take care,
Sherry

Reality gets caught in dreams at times and we find ourselves glimpsing an illusion that awaits us reaching up to grasp it. Life is full of illusions amd if we consider them a hint at what we'd like to have...then we should go at it full steam ahead.

Susan

Ah, I must differ with you, William.... not * just a writer Of verses* Truly the sculptures the writer draws with his heart and blood are as beautiful as those created by the artist of the hands. An excellent write!

Ahhh, maybe you can't sculpt this goddess from stone, dear poet, but I know you can write about her -- I've seen you do it and wonderfully so! Methinks you love her so much that you would like more ways of showing her, and that's why you dream of sculpting. Well done and a pleasure.
Love,
CJ
