****NOTE****
And Now A Bit Of The Dark

This day went by fast
Darkness brings shadows
That will accompany me
Within the walls of my room
It's a brighter night
Than usual
The moon is full
Beaming down it's silvery rays
On the other side of the mountain
That stands there before me
Within an hour
Moon beams will be brightening
My room
Causing revolutions of shadows
Residing within my walls
Deep fear is shrouding
Over my senses
As pain awaits
From what's approaching
I close my eyes in prayers
Hoping someone hears
My pleas up there.

I fear the beast
That wanders upright
In the misty fog
That preceeds
The approaching of the
Full moon
The shadows on my wall
slowly shift
From one side to another
I peer through the window
Towards the darkness
Of the beckoning forest
My hearing and senses
Intensify
With each note
Of the whispering wind
A change within my mind
Is transforming my soul
There's pain thoughout
My body whole.

In fear I cover myself
With a quilt
From head to toe
Securing myself within
In a fetal position
Praying harder
This night will pass
Me by.
I smell something delicious
My mouth
Is salivating immensely
Like a drooding fool
I can no longer contain myself
Within the confines of my sanity
I slink across
The darkness of my room
Open the window
Escaping from myself
Down a gutter drain
Disappearing into the forest
Which greets me, with open arms
Embracing me
Like a mother taking a child
Onto her bosom
I feel myself slinking
From tree to tree
Hiding between the beams
Of the silvery full moon
That cris-cross my path
Through nature.

I smell the sweetness
Of blood
Nearby a doe
Feeds her newborn fawn
I silently
Stalk closer and closer
I can hear
The fawn's heart beating
it's blood rushing
Through veins
The nervous doe caught scent
Of the dangerous scent
In the air
Disappearing
Into the darkness of the forest
I spring my surprise attack
Pouncing upon,
The helpless fawn
As my saliva dripping fangs
Sang deep into it's throat
Severing it's jugular
Delicious blood gushing
All over me
I devoured it greedily
Ripping it with my claws
And fangs
I felt heavy in my stomach
Laid down to rest
The morning's sun rays, woke me
I laid naked on my bed
Covered in blood
Praying I've hurt no human
For I remember not
Yet I still fear, the beast within.

Me too! This is a fabulous write for the creeping of evil that comes with every line. Amazing in buildup and element of surprise.

We seem to be writing dark poems on the den. This one is frightening to say the least. Do such beasts exist? I hope not :) Victor

Very, very descriptive of you. Your poem starts out with a wisp of knowledge of something to come and then continues to tell the story all the way to the end. I liked this very much (your dark side does come through).

Oh, your stalking transformations brought me unto the dark side of the moon! I think we were on the same page last night...:)
Great imagery on this one!

Quite a chilling piece, William. I pictured Lon Chaney, Jr. as I was reading this. His Wolfman movies always kept me awake!

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
