Recently I tried to inspired
With sketches passing
Through my head
I imagined what I wish
To express.

Beautiful colors dancing
Within my head
Of creative hues
I've never used.

Even a title, impelled itself
Upon the canvass, awaiting
The strokes
On my oil paint, dripping brush.

I am surrounded, with people
Anticipating criticism
Of my innovations.

I open my paint kit
Erect my easel
Prepare the pallet
To atristically mix
My carefully selected hues.

To my surprise, the paint tubes
Were squeezed flat and dry
I stare at my white canvass
For what seemed
A timeless moment
Wondering why?

I'm with Robert on this, William -- your poem is like a painting, itself. Throw away the paints and continue writing your wonderful poetry which you do so well, my friend.

CJ

A fine poem that paints what you hoped to put on canvas. Better luck next time you dream the tubes will be full;-)ET

Sometimes the best laid plans are duped by coincidence, William. Just think how much fun it will be to go out on that "field trip" to the art store to buy new paints.
Take care,
Sherry

Broke? The canvas won't be blank when you buy a new set of colors. Victor

WHY? You need to hit the crafts store, yet your words are picture enough..

Our creativity is in our minds firsy. The tools to make them flow may be dry but that won't stop the visual from being born. This is lovely.

William,
You might try looking again, for there seems to be a bit more color on the pallette than you once thought!
I had not problem seeing it.
Grand write!

Hang in there William...
enjoyed this write, I love to write and have on occasion experienced "the blank page" and I also love to sketch and have experienced the "the blank canvas" but I've been told that I never run out of things to say...one would think that I would never have a bland page or canvas...or so my husband says.
Enjoyed this one, cleverly written.
Blessings,
Joyce Bowling

To my surprise, the paint tubes
Were squeezed flat and dry

I think many artists have experienced that, and I hope all those bright colorful hues return tomorrow!
