After The Snow

A frigid new day
Is escaping the night, it leaves
Behind,
The snow has ceased
I am wearing
Cloves and ear muffs
To keep the cold at bay
The brown lawns of yesterday
Are white today.

Salters, salt the roads
Chains on tires jingling
Till they become echoes
Out of sight
The icy black top
In the twilight dawn
Damped and slick.

Carefully I descend
From atop
A mountain dewlling
Cautiously halting at a busy
Intersection
Where ice gathers
Near a curbside, frozen drain.

Through trees without leaves
I stare towards the left
Witnessing
A huge bright orange sphere
Overtaking the horizon
Towing a beautiful
Promising clear day.

Crisp and bright as a sun-drenched day. Winter cold or not, your
poem is warm with promise. L o v e the way you worked in details that help us see, hear, smell, and very nearly touch the leaves, the ear muffs, the gloves, the lawns. {I draw the line at touching the icy black top and the salt kinda stings ;)} L o v e the orange sphere. Good use of words for this poem and the orange of day plays off the whiteness of the night.

Bill, you are describing the early morning of a winter day through the eyes of a wolf carefully going down the slope and just, just, throwing its head back to check the sun peaking from the top.
Very nice done.
