I once was lost
But now I am found
I wish I were
Back in the wilderness
For I've
Of my surroundings
Looked around.

I once was blind
But now I see
I see the true light
The poor is still poor
The rich get richer
Corporations no longer
Serve the public needs
Now they lined
Their pockets with greed
I close my eyes
For my sight
Bears me pain.

I once was dumb
Unable to speak
To express myself
But now my voice
Is that of a lost soul
Yelling
Into the way ward winds
Where no one hears
Nor cares
What I have to say.

I once was deaf
But now I hear
The cry of hunger
The pain of the dying
The sounds of war
Over my ears
I place my hands
To filter the ugliness
Of fear.

so you know the next step

Very powerful and moving write my friend! As the world seems to crumble around us, many just go on their way with blinders on their eyes...out of sight, out of mind! Your write is an eye opener! Enjoyed!

D'Artagnan,

A rich, but stark expression of the heart-wrenching unrest in the world, as it creaks and groans in its birthpains.....travailing for a Saviour.

WELL DONE!!!

It is quite hard to watch the rock crumbling before our eyes...to hear how it hits this world, especially when you've spent a lifetime, preventing such...noise...
Truly thought provoking write, filled with much wisdom and insight!
Love and Peace~

Those that wonder are alive.
Those that ask will not die in ignorance.
Those that listen will hear the softest words of love.
Those that say nothing will be forgotten.
You, my friend, we will remember.

The title Amazing Grace? intrigued me and then as I read your work I no long wondered what you meant with the question mark. Excellent writing and your questioning in your poem is prophetic.
