Fatigue from the heat of the day
While diddling around in my garden
I saw a Buzzards
Soar silently by me and landed
On my roof
Just perched there
Looking at me
Then came a second and a third
Now there were three buzzards
string at me.
Exhausted I wiped the sweat
Off my brawls
I knew where they were
Coming from
So I stopped and sat
For a while
You know something
I don’t,
I said to them within my head.
You’re not staring at me
You’re staring at him
I can’t see him
Yet he is nearby
And you foul smelling
Flying rats
Are waiting for his command
I said to myself
As I reached for two aspirins
Which I slowly chewed
To ease the pain within my chest
Somehow I missed placed
My nitro bottle.
When my chest pains ceased
I said out loud to no one there
I can’t see you, my old friend
But I know you are nearby
So tell your friend
Perched on my roof
“To Buzz off”
Cause there are no
Fallen sheaves
Here to be gleaned
Depose of your sling blade
Or use it to shoo away
The three buzzards
Staring at me
Perched on my roof today.

The last stanza is excellent I liked the truth in this one for their is one that awaits our death those of us that walk with the Lord will fear not the sting of death for it has been laid useless in its call. Well written William...
Next time...throw some mental rocks at them, belive me, it helps a little more than shouting "buzz off" to them, I have tried both, the stones are better, I felt better afterwards.
My friend, you are a pain in the heart.

Ooh, I loved this write...the buzzard awaiting death! But death was overpowered and the old buzzards would have to wait! Stand strong my friend...great write, great metaphor...enjoyed this much, one of my favorites thus far!
