On a silver platter
Bathe and serve me clean
Of impurities
Present me not on ice
Like A shrimp Cocktail
But as I was born
In my birthday suit
Dry rub me not
With seasoning
Baste me, without a brush
Use your gentle hands
As you softly spread
Bar-B-Q sauce over me
From head to toes
Surround me
With your favorite veggies
Wrap me not
Like a fajita
But inside the warm
Tenderness of your embrace
Let’s toast this seasonal
Feast
With a fine sangria
To wash away the spicy sauce
From the sweetness
Of your lovely lips.
