Entering stage right
‘Twas 3:30 AM,
Sixty four Springs ago
On a beautiful day
In mid May
I entered this world
Hungry, naked and cold
From floating within the warm
Juices of life
In the darkness
Of a secured haven
(The Womb)
To the angelic hands
Of a midwife.

Presented to a woman Suffering
Another child birth
Just another mouth to feed
I was covered
In the sticky substance
That caused my survival
Upon my arrival.

Crying
With the new found
Pangs of hunger
A voluptuous milk laden tit
Was forced
Into the distorted open space
Upon my face
I call my mouth
So be it, it all began.

I excelled
Through a whole life span
From my birth to the present
It all seems now
As if it were yesterday
Time never stood still
For me.

My presence here is expiring
This subject
Has taken control of my mind
Each night I pray
That I’ll be blest
With another picturesque
Sunrise.

I’ve become obsessed
With “Death” the Reaper lurks
Fearing exiting stage left
Without a kiss, a hug
Or an embrace
From those I am leaving behind
That I love.

I find myself
Sleeping with a night light
To chase away my fear
Of shadows
Trespassing within the confines
Of the gloom
within my darken room.

I cuddle closer
To the only soul mate
I’ll ever possess
Her warmness, secures my fears.

A soft tender kiss
I gently place upon
The creamy softness
Of her bare back
As I sense, the sandman’s dust
Working it’s miracles
Of the natural cycle of life.

My eyelids are heavy
Like lead
I am too weary to fight sleep
“Good night”
Exiting stage left.

William this presentation is totally breathtaking to me~I just loved it!
Not to mention the gentle/natural flow of verbiage shared~so acceptable and precious!

I truly wish you innumerable days on this Godly given earth, and it is ok to have that little light on that is sweet.

Hugs to ya'

Happy returns of the day...And no-one has sung.....

ONE

TWO

THREE......

When I get older losing my hair
Many years from now
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

You'll be older too
And if you say the word
I could stay with you

I could be handy, mending a fuse
When your lights have gone
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride
Doing the garden, digging the weeds
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

[Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight
If it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck & Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line
Stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, wasting away
Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?
Ho!

William, this is heart rendering, and kept me glued to each line...life is fleeting and there are no days we can call back, but the beauty in it all, we do have a hereafter, and we should never fear death, if we've made it right with the one who counts the most. Truly an exceptional write.

I have recently started felling the hallway getting shorter toward the exit. It scares me but also gets me excited because I know with every fiber that has lived and still waits to live that another wonderful trip is in store. . .just beyond the door. Beautiful poem William.

All the world is a stage and we are mere actors? The story of our life, the good and the bad. We all pass from it. Great poem. Victor

Which one of the two should we blessed?
Entering, to put us here to be a soldier...
Or Exiting, because of it?
Great poem, your life just passed in front of my eyes.

I have to agree as we get older, I believe we all think about entering and the exit of our lives. I know I do and have made sure all preparations have been taken care off. I too pray each night to wake to another beautiful day to be thankful for. Thank you William you worded this so nicely.

William,
What a heartwarming and wrenching poem...You had me feeling all your emotions and your fear. My dear man, you have a soul mate, you have a life, now live it, don't worry about tomorrow, it will come.....You are not exiting just yet, you have way more to do in this lifetime...

Tell the shadows, the darkness to go away, you are not ready, you have way more to say!

Peace, Love, and Lightness to you,

William, I believe the one thing that we all have in common is the "Entering and Exiting" Everything else is filler time. Extremely good pen.

Keep cuddling with that soul mate of yours, D'Artagnan; when this thing called 'life' miraculously brings us those, the rest doesn't seem as bad.
