I lie comfortable upon my bed
From here there’s no escape
For I am weakening fast
She seats by my side
Holds my hand
Her presence makes me sigh
With relieve
She is here with me
I begged her not to cry.
I can see the wariness
Within her beautiful brown eyes
I reply
Don’t worry my Angel
For that’s what you really are
“My Guardian Angel”
You have
Smooth my rough edges
Soften my path
From my Task
You have unburden
My Load
Though your aging pain
Were more severe then mine.
You Know
I softly whispered
In an incoherent raspy voice
“You never did look good
In black
You can wear any color
Of The spectrum
And still look divine
So to you my sweet Darling
I say
“Wear Not For Me Black”
After this day.
As I've stated before, I do not know where I would be now without the intervention of angels along the way. A compelling write, William. Love and peace to you,
Your title caught me. It and the poem are excellent. I agree wholeheartedly! I have little regard for most of what our funeral directors and the clergy cook up for last rites, or whatever. Keep it simple, keep it truthful, keep it loving, keep it brief!
I enjoyed reading this for several reasons. - Bill
A most tender say one cannot imagine as the last words to one's love.
Not thinking about where we are going but leaving a word of comfort without echoes of self-pity.
Excellent, one of your best if not the very best, your heat here wasn't lying.

PS don't you hear that Madagascar fool, wearing lacy things is just fine for us Musketeers.
William,
I deeply understand this poem. Wow, it is very intense.
I must say this: Always remember your angel is with you all the time, protecting and guiding you. She is love, and in return gives you healing grace and love ten times more than you can ever imagine.
She is beautiful, let her wear whatever it is that she wishes.
D'Artagnan?
What doth this mean? You have taken side with Edvard the Terrible?
For shame, Best ye get yore self aligned with the crew of LaBelle sublime,
Or ye shall wear lacy things and swing from the yardarms in shame.

A poem that speaks to heart of every couple.
