Erosive Dreams
(Fiction)
~~~~*~~~~
A shroud of fear
Drapes
Over my darken room
My weary eyes
Fight to stay alert
Searching for signs
Of undesirable dreams
Like acid soaking
My existence.
Within fading memories
I fear my thoughts eroding
Leaving my mind a blank slate
White washed with age.
I can still hear
And fear
Like some one stabbing me
In the heart with a spear.
My mother screaming
As she fights within
Herself
In her life and dreams
To recognize those
She once loved
Nourished and embraced
Not just strangers
Entering and exiting
Her room.
Time erodes my mind
I fear
In my dreams
Where I too will scream
Not recognizing that man
On the screen
My image
(On the mirror before me)
For I am losing my concept
Of reality.
Powerful fiction, thank goodness it is only fiction.
The content - discerning reality from dreams/nightmares. Whew!
William, such a sad and heart rendering write...we never know what we will have to face in this life. This may be fiction but I've seen it happen to so many people. You have a great imaginative mind & you could write great fictional books. I enjoyed this.
So glad this is fiction: you pulled me into an uncomfortable world with the power of your pen. Few can do that so effectively: and you have, you have! Well done.
Glad to hear this is fiction, my friend, especially those last two lines. Although it now often seems like its getting harder to determine 'reality' these crazy days.
Oh! those wonderful trips into the world inside any mirror, images which no drug can provoke and words that were never heard before.
Poet, you have touched the realms of insanity.
Well done!
