"Reality Then Was reality"

They Called Him “Pride”

You ever be day dreaming
And a moment
From your faraway Past
Reappears within your thoughts
Out of the clear blue sky?

Well after reading
A poem
By One Of the Den’s Best
On the youths of to & yesterday
An image came to mind
Of a young lad my thought
Left behind.

They Called Him “Pride”
Tall go looking kid
Same age as the eight graders
(My glass)
My last year of parochial school.

He loved hanging out with us
Didn’t want the cute girls
To see him among, his own
Classmates.

You see!
He was dumber then dog shit
He was in the fifth grade
But he was Cool, so he thought
Had all the cute Higher class girls
Drooling over him
As they walked around
with dreamy eyes.

But Pride, for his own Good
Was too street wise
Wanted to fit in
To be bad as we used to say.

He walked the walk
Talked the talk
Reputation meant all
He was good with his fist
And street sports
Left the girls with dreamy eyes.

One day
Pride was absent
Didn’t show up for school
Found new friends
Worst then those on the other side
Of the fence.

Pride was no more
The Reaper came
Knocking at his door
Drug OD
Found with a needle in his arm
Laying cold on the floor.

Too bad, cool looks - cold.

Sadly, "Pride" is still alive and doing well in our society. Now, he's also added killing to his arsenal of stupidity.

A truly sad memory, D'Artagnan, and it's often those very sad ones that we remember so vividly.

Knew one like that, the sweetest kid ever that trying to be cool and fit in didn't said no and accepted the double dare, OD was perhaps the less of his problems, they will start when God ask him "why?"
For a Musketeer...you can write very well.

WOW, D'Artagnan strikes again with his excellent pen.
PLB&G I think in every urban setting most of us met or knew a guy named Pride. <Mikii>

Certainly one of the seven deadlisest sins in the needle.
Many a soul has succumed to it's charms.

I saw the needle take another man."

William, this is heart rendering and sad, I'll bet a lot of the students in the school learned a lesson about drugs and what they can do to the innocent. I hope all the teenager read this and learn something from it. Touching!!!

Oh William, this is such a sad memory, but you know I bet he made you appreciate your life and where you went with your dreams..Remember his life, and not how he died..It makes all the difference.
Peace, Love, and Light, my dear, dear, friend,
