As I smelled the roses
~~~~~~*~~~~~~
I had fallen into a pit
Like a tiger, trapped
Four dirt walls
Surround me
Twelve feet deep.
The more escapes I attempted
The walls crumble down
Burying me deeper
Suffocating me.
I saw the light above
As I reach for the glory
Of it’s sanctuary
It was but a false light
Within my horizon.
I found himself choking
On the fumes of society’s reality
Breathing my last taste of bitterness
Sighing as I exhaled
My final expectations.
I expired within the tiger’s pit
Deep in my mind
All that remained, was the remnants
Of a broken man.
After a nervous breakdown
Before crawling in a fetal position
Like an unborn child
Dying in a padded cell
Of an insane asylum.
All because she left me
To nurse my own broken heart,
As I smelled the roses
Of passionate moments
Long gone.
Wow, what a powerful piece! The title promised another one of your wonderful love poems, William but then you slapped this in my face. I love it, though it screams of agony.
Much sincerity,
Becca~
Ohhh, this is deep...and sad; a dark part of our lives that you've penned so brilliantly! Praythee this comes from your talent and not from a broken heart!
We tend to dwell on the good part of our lives with the guilt we distributed in the loss. Mending isn't that easy after we actually look at what we did later in life. It is the Hell we made and the hell we recall each time we withdraw back to it again.
Blessings and love!
William,
This is quite a tragic love story. It is sad when we smell the roses too late...
Much peace, love, and light,
William such a sad write and how many put themselves in this same situation when love has failed, life must go on for I am one who believes their are prettier Rose's out there that smell of sweet perfume not bitter and stale and so full of thorns that we can never enjoy their beauty. Thank you for sharing.
