The Gray Dawn

It was the gray of another dawn

The bedroom was still dark

Yet I can see the loveliness

Of the natural spark

That blesses her beautiful face

As she silently sleep.

There before me lies

The Gray Raven

That once silky ebony hair

Graced the sensuousness of her face.

Oh, how deeply in Love

My heart is

The flame that lights my soul

Still burns,

With the tenacity of yesteryears.

I silently awe at her

There by my side

I caress her graying hair

Combing it back with my fingers.

I can’t help myself

As I place gentle kisses on

The tenderness of her sweet lips

Not wanting to wake her

For she looks

Like a sleeping Goddess.

You speak with such a tender passion in this poem, William. Wake the sleeping Goddess and repeat your words, and ye shall reap the benefits, methinks...
