Brain Dead

I lay in bed tired

Like a zombie

Unable to close my eyes

Waiting for the sandman

To sprinkle me to sleep.

I laid there unable to think

Brain dead

Nonsense for vision

Traveling through my head.

The blank ceiling was like a screen

It displayed images

Embedded in my head

I saw

A large gray wolf

Scattering away for his life

From an approaching flood

He left behind

The carcass of a half eaten doe.

Several other images

Continued flowing passing in

My review before realizing

The beautiful mate of my

Lonely soul

For at least a half century

Was sleeping, dreaming heavenly

Next to me.

She tossed and turned

Looking for a comfortable

Position

Her left hand

Slightly touched mine

I gently placed it

Within the grasp of my

Right hand.

Her fingers unconsciously

Inter locked with mine

At that very moment, I felt

A warm serene feeling

Shrouding my insomnia ridden soul

Causing heaviness upon my eyelids

Drifting me into

The peacefulness of her

Dreams.

William, this is beyond beautiful, knowing you found the hand that gave you love and support, you were able to find a "stillness" in your mind to fall asleep. The greatest feeling is knowing you are beside the one you love and are sharing your life with. Money cannot buy this kind of happiness. A great writing.

This is soft and touching as your love soon changed the thoughts in your head. How quick you could concentrate on your beautiful mate with the touch of her hand. Thank you for sharing William.

So touching a write, you are so good, it is great you are posting again. Take care and sleep well. I have stars on my ceiling, yes those white glowing stars, like a child I had to have them in copying off my granddaughter. Love them, so peaceful to see as I drift off to sleep.
