A Mind’s Fear

I sit before a word process blank screen

Wondering where my mind

Has been

Not knowing it wandered to a point

Unseen

Woke one morning

To a reality check.

~*~

The night table by my side

A mess to say the least,

My poetry suffering

As I

Chased shadows

Searching for rhythms and rhymes

From verses and lines

Lost within

A Wandering mind.

~*~

With thoughts of losing it

In mind

I snapped out of it

Shaved and showered

Cleared up my night table scene.

~*~

Feeling like a new soul

Has awaken within

I fight for better control

Before a mind starts

To wander leaving me behind

In a bottomless pit

With a patted cell

Somewhere in my dreams

With two gents in white jackets

Waiting, a syringe in hand,

To steal my lines.

~*~

you poetically described fear very well here William, consider this thought, vacation, we all take vacations, fears loom for all of us. I always say it's vacation time until,

The mind is a strange thing...carrying us to far off places, creating illusions, portraying dreams, protecting our heart, and a place for our imagination and all the creativity to seed and grow into wonderful writes such as this...well done my friend, food for thought!

The mind is the most powerful tool
Of the human being possesses!
You must not let it take over your love for writing or
Anything else in life!!
But do remember many great poems
Are born from a wondering mind!!!

Our minds are very powerful, William, You must not let your mind take over your poet's passionate heart and soul...I have visited that place with you, and we both have seen amazing words come from that union. Never give up hope or give in to a mindless trap...
Always grasp for the brass ring with hope and passionate embraces.
Much love, light, and peace to you my dearest friend,

I been through this many a time. It is sort of scary but when you think it through maybe your mindjust needs the added rest. I try to rest as often as I can to be a better thinker and go getter. Good luck in your future writes.

When a jew died all the mirrors of the house are covered, you haven't yet dies but are covering all the mirrors of your life with metaphores and not deserved "mea-culpas" but if you take this path a little longer you really going to find yourself between too big mean bubbas in white jacket, not to steal your lines but to haul your ass where the wall are too soft to hit your head with a good sense.
If you are in trouble mood...drink a few Coors and throw the empty bottles on the window-shield of a police patrolcar, althought they don't wear white....

Poets are slaves to their muses. Many nights I have gotten out of bed to write verses that scream inside my head until I release them on paper! No one can understand this need, unless they are poets. This poem was very soothing to me, as I can truly relate to it. HUGS! SC

Oh, man, do I know the feeling! L i v e in the cuckoo's nest!! Mind does, anyway. But then, more than a little craziness is needed to be creative. Have to risk getting out of the box!! Sometimes it is hard to get back in. . .;) Thanks for sharing this gem, my friend.
