Merry Christmas to all and to all a Happy New Year

Poem Artwork

A Christmas Snow Storm

~*~

Its Christmas Eve

I found my self lost in the wilderness

Within an unexpected

Christmas snow storm

Or am I lost within myself?

~*~

I am freezing snow blinded

 Moving one foot at a time

The howling of the cold wind

Is keeping me from staying idle

So I may once again

Praise Him.

~*~

My eyelids are heavy

I am drifting in and out

Into, days from my past

I hear jingle bells

I hear the noise of traffic

All around me

Cars and truck horns

I hear the roaring

Of the train approaching

On the 3rd Ave. EL

Above me.

~*~

I hear people greeting each other

Wishing each other

Happy Holidays

It was a clod clear night

I find myself before

A huge store front window

Ogling at a familiar large display

Of toys.

~*~

I know this place

I used to come here every night

In my childhood to watch

The electric Lionel train going around

A mini Bavarian village.

~*~

Every year I closed my eyes

  Hoping one day

It will find its way under

My Christmas tree

But, we were

 “Too poor.”

~*~

I see a dim light at distance

Through the heavy snow storm

From where I stood

At the edge of the forest.

~*~

I started moving towards it

The storm subsided

As I took my first step

I don’t know

Where I found the strength

To continue moving

My soul was unwilling to yield

Nor bend.

~*~

I threshed one step at a time

Till I was in front of an jarred door

It was a small barn

In the middle of nowhere

So I thought

I saw nothing there.

~*~

I walked in

It was much warmer

Then the elements outside

I stumble exhaustedly into a pile

Of  hay.

~*~

Woke to licks from a calf

Upon my face

As heavenly warm rays

From the morning’s bright sunshine

Caressed my face.

~*~

When I exit the barn

I was at awe to see

Two sets of footprints

Leading into the barn

Knowing

Last night I was alone?

~~~*~~~
An interesting story, William. The imagery of you looking through the window at the train brought back memories of the Sears catalog when I was little.
We got an inch of snow in the front yard, two inches in back. Guess that means three inches total. LOL! First White Christmas in 26 years!!! =]
