Sleeping Princess

To A Beautiful Woman In My Memory

Sleeping Princess
~*~

Waking, the aunt
Of a childhood friend
This Poem, is a contributive
Dedication, to her.

Who, to this date,
remains unknown to me,
I wish to remember her,
As the Sleeping Princess
That haunts my memories
With her beauty.

Memorable thoughts,
Of a mourned time,
Travel through,
Sadden inner sanctums,
Of my memories.

Back to a time,
When my youth, was prime
About ten I think, at the time.

A lovely princess, lie in state
Dressed in white
Sleeping, sleeping eternally
More beautiful, then a June bride.

In the parlor, of her home
Drowned with floral arrangements
Fit for royalty.

Waking her, like a princess
Sleeping endlessly
Tears flowing
From sad family eyes.

Gleaned from life
At her beauty's prime
Way before her glorious time.

Very powerful poem. Spec to us Brits. Reason being, until a g/f of mine had a death where we went to a funeral home, i had no idea what was to come. The coffin was open and the dead person on view.
A common language, but two very different cultures. As I first learned working for Boeing Military.
Such a sad poem of a life taken before a life fulfilled.

Due to my years over there I vividly understand and see the paradoxical penn.

Superb Poem, yet leaves one melancholic.
