Sleeping Princess (ParT 2)
~*~
Farewell kisses, were placed,
Upon her gentle, sleeping face,
Tears shed, through eyes unable,
To support, their anguished strains.
As the lid, was being lowered,
Like that, Of an Egyptian queen,
Being sealed,
I took, my final look.
At her gentle, sleeping face,
Hoping she would look,
Or smile, in my direction,
Before the imagined sarcophagus,
Was lower eternally.
As reality awaken me,
From my heavenly, day dream,
I look back,
Fifty years, down the line.
I asked my God,
Is it heaven for her,
To be eternally, incarcerated,
In my mind?
Or is it heaven, for me?
To bear the image,
Eternally, in my thoughts,
Of a beautiful woman,
I'll never possess.
