I want to wish all my friend And fellow writers at the Den "A Merry Christmas" To you and your families God Bless You all.........William
*Christmas In a box* *(Revised)* **~~* The Christmas Season is here again Just a thought Traveling through his minds As he crawls Back into his cardboard box. To keep dry, warm And wring out his soaking Wet sox’s. At a distance, he can hear A merry voice Surrounded by jingle bells In the air Of a corner Santa Claus. Exchanging Meaningful seasons greetings Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas. He clenches his teeth fighting back Tears For he couldn’t control Memories of other Christmas, Once upon other years. Those wonderful smiles On his grandchildren As he handed them gifts He vision The fantasies on their faces. He search and reaches In the darkness Of his shelter cardboard box For his dry blanket To Keep warm And for The Bottle To keep At least his thoughts In dryer places. Yes, your poem is similar to mine and just as heart-wrenching. To think that a grandfather would be put out on the street because of his addiction to alcohol and failure to pay his bills, probably through no fault of his own, is a real disgrace.

Yes, some politicians seem to think that ignoring the poor and "letting nature take its course for having Christian charities take care of the problem" is going to solve it easily� Out of sight out of mind.

Beautiful William as I tell people to keep Tim Hortens Coffee coupons on them. It helps a homeless to get in out of the cold for a bit.

Such a sad reminder of those who are left out in the cold. It breaks my heart, what has America come to, to allow such tragedy. William your poem offers an insight into one such lost soul.
There are many more out there suffering this same plight, especially since jobs are so scarce.
