I sit in search
For the soul I once scribed with
Reading old odes and sonnets
Seeking to defile the weak
Those not worthy and found none
For then my soul resided deep
Within my plume and inkwell
Time has consume my thoughts
I find myself floating
Atop the inkwell of inspiration
Seeking words within a mind
Of fading thoughts
With a dry quill and parchment
Untouched.
My now world is passing me by
Been hibernating too long
In my dwelling
Out of reach of inspiration
Must exit this self imprisonment
To re explore my surroundings
Nourish my mind, thoughts and senses
Starting with the beauty of nature.
Grandchildren are always greatest muse
They easily fall into place
When it comes to creating art
Within a poetic mind.
I pray all will fall into place
As I resume my quest
To create words that will form lines
Lines that will contribute
To the assembly of verses
And verses that will bless
The poetry I attempt to scribe.
I am quite intimate with nature but I do not have any grandchildren... ...perhaps I never will; it's up to my children. Nonetheless, your verses are meaningful to me and thank you, William. Love and peace to you,
There is nothing like the great outdoors for a great re-charge. We not only enjoy what mother nature provides us but meet the most interesting people who sometimes say that one thing that gives our imaginations wings!
The easiest way is to find some inspiration go outside and walk, then write, then read it over out loud and write it over a bit clearer once more. If all else fails take off for the great outdoors once more...
You have begun your quest of "all will fall into place" with this well constructed poem, William. I have not the slightest doubt that the rest will follow suit. But you are correct, we all need from time to time to recharge our batteries.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
