Where Did Time Go?

Where did time go?

Life passes you by
If you stay still
You lose
Time waits for no one
Looking back this life
Seem like 5 minutes long
I saw myself in a day dream
Young, vibrant, full of life,
Sugar and spice
Running five miles a day
Along the seashore
My shoulder length hair
Riding the wind behind me
Like a stallion steed
Running in the wilderness

I nodded hard
Woke to a tear at
The corner of my pride
Looked in the mirror
An old man shaved head
White beard, mustache,
Exhausted staring at me
Wondering
How did it ever get to this
Overweight walking slow
Searching my pockets
For an inhaler
On a clear beautiful
Sunny summer day

I LOVE THE DESCRIPTIVE PHRASES HERE...I SAW EVERYTHING SO CLEARLY! TIME AND TIDE WAITS FOR NO MAN...IT PASSES ON, VERY QUICKLY. AND I THINK OF THOSE THAT WAKE EACH DAY AND FINDS THEY HAVE NO CHILDREN, NO GRANDCHILDREN, NO MEMORIES OF A BEAUTIFUL LOVE & SPOUSE. I THINK OF THOSE SO UNLIKE YOU WHO ARE UNABLE TO MOVE THEMSELVES TO LOOK INTO A MIRROR AND THOSE THAT CANNOT WALK AND BREATH WITHOUT BEING ATTACHED TO A MACHINE. SO THEN, WHEN ONE THINKS ON THESE THINGS, THEY CAN BE THANKFUL FOR THE NUMEROUS BLESSINGS OF THE PRESENT...WITHOUT LAMENTING OVER THE PAST. AND IT'S THE 'GOLD' FOUND WITHIN THE BEAUTY OF THE 'ASHES' THAT IS SO APPRECIATED. THANKS FOR SHARING, WILLIAM. WE MUST REFUSE TO LET ANYTHING...OR...ANYONE DULL THE LUSTER OF 'HIS' GOLD IN OUR LIVES. DON'T WORRY ABOUT TIME, JUST LIVE ONE DAY AT A TIME AND ACCEPTS WHAT HE ALLOWS. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Dedar William, I like your poem, but life is half in our hand and half is in other hands.
Let's enjoy what is ours
and let go of what is sour

Beautifully stated. In Afrikaans we used to say 'Brill & Pill' - spectacles and pills!

We have all lived long enough to see it happen. I wonder what we did before inhalers? We just croaked?

As long as we are here, we must serve a purpose. Helping others is mine I believe. Sure, time flies. We must make the most of every moment in some way.

Love ya!

Giggle...and it goes by just that fast! Loved your take on how quickly time flies, William...

Yes indeed, I can sadly relate, and I have moved on to a nebulizer. Still, I am upright, I have my senses about me, still a recent death has given me insight on what I should have done with my life. Too late, too late.

We are all there, especially after the turkey day. But today I made riding my bike or walking at least 30 min every day a priority. Yes, if we don't use it we lose it.

Blessings my friend,

John Michael

One step forward, two steps back. 16 pills then back to bed.
It's a losing game. Push up, push out, push on!
You said it better.

I don't know!! It did fly by, but even in my vanity I don't miss those hormonal and vanity filled days. I for one think you look great.
