Dedicated to a Friend "Izzy"
A great Guy who the lord called
too soon in his life

The Conversation
~~~~~*~~~~~
On my evening walk
I was enjoying
All the green scenery
The birds and surrounding
critters
The trees some shrouded
And choking
With Spanish moss.
Crying silently
For some one to help
Rid him of that parasite
No one listens
Cause no one cares
Some think the moss
Gives the trees
An intriguing sight.
Out of nowhere
A friend enters my mind
A dear friend
Who passed away
A few years back.
And I greet him
How you doing Pal?
I say to him
In my silent thoughts
What’s with this Pal
Thing of yours
That’s cop talk
For friend I reply
Jokingly.
He says,
Yeah well I’m no cop
No, But you have always
Been my best friend,
Pal.
So what’s up with you
I asked
What you doing in my head
I miss you Buddy I said
We always mention
Your name
When the guys get together.
The Game is not the same
Without you
You always brought class
To the table.
Just wanted to see
How you been
He said to me, Stay Gold
then there was silence.
Exiting my mind
As unexpectedly
As when he dropped in,
Leaving me behind
Nursing a tear
Rolling down the side
Of my face
leaving it to the gentle
evening wind to dry.
When I arrived home
I said to my wife
Guess who I was having
A conversation with.
Who? she replied
Izzy
He just popped
Into my mind
And stay a while
She looked at me
With a startled stare
And left it at that.
Definitely some people are connected by an invisible string. A nice poem of friendship, William.
Very lovely...
For he was with you William...
They come to you in thought to let
them know they miss you...
and I'm sure he felt you needed him
at that moment...
Marvelous!
We are never apart,
AS long as we stay,
A part of each other.
It's nice to have a chat with an old friend.
Hope you share some more chats.
I love this...! If you believe that our energy lives on...perhaps your thinking of him caused him to pop in and say 'hello'...
Whatever...it's good to reconnect with good memories of a good friend...
Keeps them alive...
Wow! This is a GREAT tribute to a dear friend. Yes, your true character shines though this poetic gem. Yes William, you were are you still are a true friend.
Thank you for having the guts to share you deepest thoughts and show how much you care for a fellow warrior for the Lord.
It is an Honor to know you.
Interesting introspection. Walks like that are a form of meditation where your mind can wander back into memories and bring them to the fore. Of course, your wife wouldn't understand. Does any woman know what goes on in a man's head?
I'm quite sure those old trees and Spanish moss have a symbiotic relationship. I don't think of the moss as "choking" at all.
I've had a few of these moments in my dreams.
Some pleasant, some break out in knock down fights.
Either way, they're interesting.
Nice tale.
