Second Hand
~~~~~~*~~~~~~
I have never taken time
To stare at the red
second hand of a clock,
while laying on a gerny
in an emergency room
at a loneliest point
of my life
while in deep thought
contemplating
with the Lord above
my fate and what's
In stow for me.
I found myself staring
At the clock on the wall
mesmorized by the red
second hand ticking
One notch at a time
Tock, tock, tock
around the clock's
circomferance endlessly
wondering what's
waiting for me
left alone
to make peace
with the destination
of my soul.
where is the shadow
of the reaper?
I see him not
lurking about
just me and my thoughts
and the good Lord above
negotiating room for me
within the Golden Streets
beyond the Pearly Gates
Of Elysium
which were guarded
By United States Marines.
A very insightful poem William. Our final destination should always be a priority.
AS LONG AS YOU CAN SEE THE CLOCK AND KNOW THAT THERE IS A 'SECOND HAND'...YOU'RE IN GOOD HANDS AND CLOSELY GUARDED BY THE USM(UNDEFEATED SAVIOR & MASTER). LOVE YA! STAY WELL AND TRUST. THANKS FOR SHARING. BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
I think these kinds of thoughts are natural to us all as human beings....
My Dad used to talk of a Conveyor belt...with some falling off before the end...as a family we all used to laugh and tell him not to be so depressing....he was right however...
As long as that clock ticks we are alive....and have the choice of how we live those precious hours....
Stay happy and optimistic....
Hugs,
Diana...
The red hands are still moving. That's a pretty good sign. Patrick
...smooth running clock's second hand...rhythm of human
heart bit...and..."just me and my thoughts and the Good
Lord above"...deep and meaningful...awe-inspiring poem.
Thank you William for sharing your verse.
Very good poem, I recognize so much! Taken from life and put in write, as a real poet does. Congratz, D.T.
You'll probably be okay if you can write out this poem and posted it. You'll probably be staying around for some time yet.
