Lost at sea at dusk
Ship wrecked
Approaching is the darkness
That will shroud his sanity
With unknown horrors
Already dwelling in his
Imaginative mind
Of what creatures lurk
Beneath his dangling feet.
The swimmer
Chose to sail his yacht alone
Upon a smooth
mirrored glass ocean day
To attempt a gathering
Of inspiration
Lost in times gone by.
His boat drifted
Silently and hard
into a sharp reef
Unseen by high tide
Rapidly the boat disappeared
Into the royal deep blue sea.
In the darkness
He witnessed
Under the rays of a
Pale blue full moon
A pod of curious whales
That seemed to know
Something was wrong.
The leviathans
Decided to accompany
This strange amphibian
Entity floating
Obviously in need of assistance.
In the first sign
Of a beautiful sunrise
Cresting the eastern horizon
A military chopper
Broke the silence
Causing a strain
On his sanity.
The leviathans stayed to observe
The strange activities
From a near safe distance
Until the lone swimmer
Boarded the chopper.
As the chopper
slowly moved away
The swimmer waved
Good bye
Towards his unbelievable
Baby sitters.
Not looking away
he too saw the leader
of the pod
The giant of giants
Return his wave several times
With his flipper.
Satisfied the strange
Amphibian was safe
They dove deep into
The world of their realm.

A fine story if there ever was one of the strange interaction of man and beast, who may not be such a beast after all. I enjoyed reading your poem. Well done. John
