Just stepped
on to the rear porch,
on the property fence
landed a couple
Of old friends
The regal red beautiful
Male cardinal
and to my surprise
His lovely and charming
mate or hen
whichever you prefer
She's perched like a queen.
Its been several weeks
since my eyes settled
upon their loveliness
he's still the perfection
Of wild life beauty
Her, She has changed
Seemed more plumed
Heavier one might say.
searched for them
I not need today
As in the past,
they saw me first
and came into my vision.
When they fly away
I will know
from which tree
their young
will make their maiden
Flight.
I thanked them
Within my thoughts
Hoping the wind
Will to them deliver
My respectful thoughts
for they have blessed me
with their presence.
I love to watch the birds that come to the feeders I have in the back yard. Their colors are so lovely and when I see their young I smile and enjoy. So much beauty.
IN THE MIDST OF THIS MAD, MAD WORLD...THE PLEASURE OF OBSERVING AND APPRECIATING THE BEAUTY OF OUR FEATHERED FRIENDS, IS SUCH A BLESSING. THANK YOU FOR SHARING, WILLIAM. LOVE, BLESSING AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
A beautiful tribute to the cardinals near your home. There are 3 bird feeders in the large Oak in our back yard. A big variety of birds often fly to them to have a birdie snack!.......M
A bird of so many sport team mascots. Revered for its brilliant red plumage. I wonder who was named first, the bird or the Catholic diocese head. I think the bird was named after the man because I believe cardinals were only in the New World and not in Europe.
We've been blessed with a nesting pair that visits our backyard daily to check on the birdseed before it's all gone. The male must be quite young, because he is not yet completely dark red. The female seems to be more aggressive when it comes to feeding. Probably because she's the one that lays the eggs.
I've heard, I'm not sure where, that to see a Cardinal is to see a loving soul from your past...maybe a wife that passed or some other loved one as that is how they come to us in God's beauty...and you have two, with more coming...such luck is rarely found...-e-
Oh, the lovely flash of red! I have cardinals in a tall oak tree in my back yard and love when I see the male breaking the daylight with his brilliant red regalia. Fine writing!
Nicely done, William. Nature can really give us pleasure if we just take the time to look. It seems here that your guests took their own good time to look at you, for you are a part of nature also.
Welcome!
The poems in this beautifully bound book are a result of over twenty years of observations. Observations of the world around us and on the telecommunications network. All of the hate, love, heroism, disasters, and those who help.
