The dark tunnel

While waiting for an elevator
In a place I wish not to be
I noticed a long dark corridor
A door awaited at its end
Leading to what might be
An alleyway

It's length and eeriness
Appearance
Caught my curiosity's
Attention

After staring into it's dark
Destination for a while
The decision was made
I moved steadily
Towards the door.

It's darkness overtook me
Halfway
Until fear shrouded
Over me.

An about face
I
Decided upon
Walking back gingerly
at first slow strides
Without sight
Of lights in view.

Panic escaped me
From within my
Inner conscience
As I began running fast
My destination wasn't
Yet in view
My attempts
Where in slow motion
I heard frightening footsteps
From the unknown
behind me.

As my leading foot
Stepped into
The lobby's light
The entity chasing me
Grabbed me
by my fear trembling shoulders
Scaring me half to death
'Twas my grandsons
playing pranks within my dream.

Your grandsons must love you - you engineered them subconsciously into your dream saving you from what you though a monster behind you. Lovely poem. Ashff

Grandfathers shouldn't be having dreams like that about their grandchildren. Unless of course, they're little rascals.
