For the most part, these are rather quick and less painful ways of dying. Something that many who suffer the slings and arrows of old age pass-through will be for their release in death.
Something to ponder. But, I wouldn't blame the executioner, like John said. He's just carrying out court orders. Like carrying out the garbage, somebody's gotta do it.

If someone goes through a lengthy court proceeding where there are witnesses and are found guilty, I imagine there are not many who are wrongly convicted. Still, if there are wrongly convicted and executed that is a blemish on our court system.
The executioner doesn't establish justice, he only seems to execute it, whether it is justice or not. An interesting poem, seeming highlighting the face that people are sometimes executed for crimes they didn't commit. John
