Woke up late
Disoriented
Found myself
bare of clothing
naked before a mirror
Wearing just my
Snow White beard
Years passed me by
Like a silver bullet
I said to no one there
As I stared
At a large surgical
Scar amid my chest
Never thought
I was to survived
That one.
I remembered
As if it was yesterday
Being ejected
From my fine tuned
79 Red caddy,
Defected door
At 45 miles per hour
Landed on the 3rd lane
On my fours
When I looked up
Anther caddy applied
It's breaks
2 feet from my face
God has been good
To me.
Another deep thought
Buried within my head
Managed to escape
Prying itself
From the archives
Of 2nd chances,
As a child jumping
From one tenement roof
To anther in the ghettos
Of old
I had one foot atop
A divider
Ready to jump
To another roof
Where there was none
But an empty back yard
5 stories below,
I lingered seconds
With the other foot
In the air
When my guardian angel
Gently
Guide me back
To the black top
Of the roof,
A thought
Still buried in my mind
As I thank God
For blessing me
With yet another day.
AMEN...MIRACLES, WILLIAM, MIRACLES! JUST FOR YOU! AND NOW I KNOW WHY YOU 'BELIEVE'! HALLELUJAH! THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH....JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
Great biographical piece of how the wheel spins when it comes to pivotal points in our lives. I will bet you were grateful that that Caddy had good brakes and gave you a break.
When pushed from the edge of a rocky cliff with jagged rocks below, I turned quickly and caught the edge after teetering and losing my grip. The heart does rise up into the gullet at times like that. Come to think of it, breaking my plastic foot brace and catching my heel at the top step of a second-story fall was akin to your "almost" jump to your death.
I have reason to believe I have TWO angels watching over me. No doubt they have had to work in shifts to keep me safe from my own devices! Well done!

Fantastic poetry William! God is good! I fell off the Marine Park Bridge at 17. Scrapped my back on the cement supports and crashed into the ocean. Somehow I swam to the shore and hid the scar from my mother. At 18 I filled up my gut with Colt 45 ML. I leaned back on a fence that was no more. Fell straight down on my head one story straight down the concrete basement floor with a beer bottle in my hand. Twenty something stitches later I came out from the emergency room. It's the first time my dad did not yell at me. He thought I bit the dust but God had plans for this guy for sure! Thank you Jesus. Amen!
Inspirational poetry, written from the heart and soul. Verses that are well-suited for reading on a rainy day and that are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
But, God Is Good!
Thanks for sharing, William!
