The Hideous Clown

Did anyone noticed
That Hideous Clown
Before national T.V.
Who refused to wear
A frown.
Answering questions
From a committee
Without shame
Nothing since then
Has ever been the same.
Proclaiming his innocence
Like a whore
Looking good on the strip
Smirking, grinning, smiling
Laughing between lies
Making faces
Looking out of place.
I had stayed home
Wanting to see a circus
I’ve forgotten
That Circus World had closed
Years ago.
As others joined not as Hideous
as the head clown
But a troop of buffoons
That wore no frown
They came not to inquire
As it’s their duty
As members of a committee.
They appeared to Blur out
Outrageous statements
irrelevant to the facts
Before them,
screaming out Obstructive
Mumble jumble
Anything to assure
Their ranks as jesters
Of the courts
THE INFLUENCE AND SUPPORT OF ALL 'MOCKERIES' AT THIS TIME IN OUR NATION'S HISTORY FLOWS FROM THE WHITE HOUSE. AND I KNOW 'DIE-HARDS' REFUSE TO ADMIT IT BUT, IF THEY HAVE ANY LOVE AT ALL FOR THIS OUR COUNTRY, IN THEIR MOMENTS OF SOLITUDE THEY MUST ADMIT...'NOTHING' HAS BEEN THE SAME, NOR WILL OUR VALUES 'EVER' BE THE SAME AGAIN...AS LONG AS 'YOU-KNOW-WHO' IS THE CAPTAIN OF SHIP, USA. MY SOUL CRIES...MY SOUL CRIES! THE ONLY THING THAT COMFORTS ME IS A KNOWLEDGE THAT 'GOD' IS STILL VERY MUCH IN CHARGE AND I LOOK TO 'HIM'. THANKS FOR SHARING. Seems to me the clown might be a certain blondish, dare I say, gentleman who resides in a White House for a few more years and hopefully he does not re-up, as it were, since he was and is our first clown in such a high public office...:) -e-
I reread this twice, trying to get at what you are really writing about. The answers that others wrote below did not satisfy me at all. It appeared that some of them were as confused as I am and some were just concerned about clowns.
The more I read it, the more I seem to conclude you may be writing about our president. If not you are writing about one of the many people who went before congressional committees the past. But I'm beginning to doubt even that.
I have never liked clowns, nor do I like the circus. Even when my children were young I seldom took them to see the circus. I thought the animals were ill-treated and were constantly beaten upon, and the clowns' face were all covered with disguises whom I coiuldn't trust. Stehphen King's story "It" has a message to the children: Do not trust someone whom you can't see his real face, especially clowns!"
