Wavering Heat

Sun beating down
Burning hot
Waves of heat
Wavering an unfocused
Scene.
~*~

Shimmering
Like a movie screen
Salty sweat drops
My sore lips taste.
~*~

As I continue walking
On this very hot day
Silently I stumble
My mind
On the ground fumbles.
~*~

My thinking is fading
I need water
To cool my parched lips
And quench, my dry tongue.
~*~

The distance sands
Waver, like gentle waves
On an ocean horizon
Wavering, wavering heat
On that, so far away horizon.
