but in your write I feel the despair in the battle for life's exsistance

That is brilliant.. the voice of a police man is present in every line.. and yes, you change our views of cops.
Excellent message on the futility of war for the soldiers that do the actual fighting - and dying!

Wow! Bill ... one needs to reflect on this poem before commenting. Just thinking about
being in the trench and hearing the Christmas sound is more than enough to drive the mechanism of this poem. It would be the rare human being who could not hear this and identify with the warrior in the trench. Bill
