Happy Holidays
The local politician
wished his maid, butler
And chauffer
As he made his way
To the yearly ritual
That cold morning day
At the ghetto mission
To serve a Thanksgiving meal
To the poor and homeless
That find themselves
At the ebb of nothingness
Clinging to the rim
Of the abyss
Walking a razor's edge
on one side
you fall from grace
On the other side
Awaits, the bottomless pit
And suicide
Happy Holidays
Enjoy your meal
He constantly repeats
Mechanically
Making sure, the local TV
And reporters
Have their camers on
with a masqueraded smile
he is wishing people
He wouldn't get caught dead with
Happy Holidays
I wish this endless line
would end soon
So I may retreat
To my suburban mansion
As my chauffer, drives me home
My butler, uncloaks me
At the enterance
Dinner will be served,
In a half hour, sir
But not before He runs upstairs
To remove the imagenary stench
Of the ghetto, off himself
He bathes and changes clothes
He sits, at the head of his table
Crosses himself, in prayer
As he lowers his head
He thanks God
For his humbleness.
very well written

I am a local politician perhaps that is a less stressful
job than being in higher politics but I do what I can to be helpful and I am as honest as I can be. You can't please al of the people all of the time.
Perfect William! Anything for a vote, like the media anything for ratings!like the stars anything to keep you seeing their films! The sham of it all makes me sick! Thanks for this one!

Your cynicism is dripping. Oh. One thing. Today they "pardoned" the turkey at the White House. Just once I wish one president had the cajones to walk up to the microphone and say, "Pardon? Why no I'm not going to pardon the turkey, people have to eat," and walk away.
