The time, has come
Once again, for us to thank God
For the joyous moments
He has bestowed, upon us
This past year.

It's late November, as we all know
Mama and the hostess, my daughter
Have been up since sunrise
Cooking for the celebration.

As a guess,
I do my best, to keep
The grand kids occupied
Lots of luck to me
As I try to find, The right video CD.

Between more quiet moments
We play cards
War, go fish and old maid
And other silly games
But I am having fun, all the same.

Outside it's too cold
The windows are sweaty
From the kitchen heat
And the cold elements outside.

Papa is a little over weight
definitely out of shape
To be tossing, the pig skin around
God forbid, I'll fall to the ground.

The table is set, kids are being seated
For some reason
They all want to sit,
Next to Papa, that's me grandpa.

No! I want that seat
Yesterday, you sat next to Papa
It's my turn, not fair
So I try to explain.

When I was a child, we had our own table
So you have to sit, where you are told
As the wonderful ladies
Bring in the food prepared
Yummy! yummy! yummy!
The kids all yell.

I want a leg, I want a wing
Tiny voices, fill the air
As we bow our heads
To thank God
For all, we have shared, in the past
"Happy Thanksgiving To all"
