End Of An Abuse

Tired of seeing my dad
Beating my mom
She's so beautiful, so fragle
So thin, so quiet
Only her tears, re-live
Each beating
Her soul is silent
Bruised beyond any feelings
Imprisoned
No money, no where to go
I've been witnessing
This since I can remember.
~~*~~
He arrives intoxicated
Demanding food
Mom suffers being slow
A smack, a punch
Kicks when she's down
Pretty soon,
She won't be around
I swear
This will end tonight
He falls asleep on the sofa
like clock work
Smelling like booze and beer
Tonight mom
Will sleep without any fear.
~~*~~
I'll lay wait
Before mom is killed
Or driven insane
I hear him snoring
Like a monster, in a bad dream
I reach for the hammer
In the tool box
Sneak towards him
With both hands, over my head
Slam it on his forehead
Over and over again
Until his left arm
Falls to the floor
like a wet rag
He never made a sound
While mom was doing the laundry
No one was around.
~~*~~
Between aches and pains
Tears will melt in time
Before she goes insane
The hammer was heavy
It dropped to the floor
As I walked, like a zombie
Right out, my front door
Mom will never suffer again.

I walked outside
walked around for several blocks
A policeman approached me
Ah! my lad
Are you lost now?
No I replied
My mother is inside this store
How old are You, I was asked?
Seven years old sir
Than you best get back
Stay with your mommy.

William....

This was heartbreaking....so vivid and chilling..

Writes like this as hard as they are to read.......are so needful.
My Mother worked in emergency at the hospital for some years......the abuse victims she had seen during that time were dreadful…black, blue and bloodied......and yet.....most of them wouldn't tell.....they fell over or the like.

Fear will do that and shame.
Life can be cruel.

Excellent poem. ty, and Happy New Year.......Dani

Oh William,
This sent chills up my
spine...
Years ago I was in an abusive marriage...
For a while there, he
managed to break me down.
Yet, I would not let
him break my spirit....
I have been free from
him now for 15 years.
Never felt more happier.

I could feel the pain behind this....

Excellent write of abuse.
Though very heartbreaking.

Happy New Year
