Like a picutre of perfection
She sat under an apple tree
On a hill
Hot summer day
Clear skies.

Birds singing
Chirping heavenly songs
The cicadas clicking a back up
For their symphony
Of melodies.

Squirrels running along
Her book opened
As she reads and recites
Poetry she loves.

Old Dan ninety years old
In dog years
Lay by her side
Dreaming of his younger days
As his feet, he kicks.

The perfumed smell
Of cider
Swirls aromatically
Through the air.

Below, the fields of wheat
Waver like golden seas
Red barn
A land mark, for her to see
Her straw hat
Lays by her side.

A drop of sweat
She sees in slow motion
In mid air, with appreciation
Before it splattered
Into a stain
In her opened book.
