In my mind
I travel back in time
To my old home town
I left so far long ago
Returned my soul did
Craving for the innocence
Left along, a portal of time
Deep in the corridors
Of memories filed in my mind
Crime was rare
For demons who dare
All was less then
Three pretzels, for a penny
Five cookies for the same
Five cents a slice of pizza
A loaf of Italian bread,
A dime
All this, just lost in time
Some say, "Good old days."
Now, will our children care?
Counting on mine
Praying they'll really be there
I am aging
At times fearing, the future
Not much of a choice
We have to look forward
Have we?
An unforgiving clan
Or
An uncaring nursing home.
In this reality that comes up and smacks us all in the face, we are equal William. That's why preparation is so important, and shouldn't be put off. Wonderful write!
Hmmmm William we all think of this...this is much like the one I wrote...How far does love go?...And I really do wonder...how far does it go?...Parents do so much sacrificing for children only to be abandoned in their old age...I have seen it...and it truly tears my

I often travel back in time myself. 'The Good Old Days' seem awfully good to me now. Don't know what to think of the future; it seems much bleaker; but one must hope.
