This is The Boardwalk
I used to drive to
At the crack of dawn
To wait for the first sight
Of orange hues bright
As they penetrate, the calmness
Of the easten horizon's
Twilight.

So I may recite a prayer
For the Lord
To see me through
This wonderful day,
Guide me
So I may return
Again to see, His way.

A stretch here, A stretch there
I start my run
Slow and sure footed
To begin a daily task
Five miles clocked.

Breathing ryhtems, breathing strides
Before I am back
To this spot, re-rooted
A stretch here , a stretch there
My run is done.

This is The Boardwalk
I drive to
That blesses me
As my prayers, I still recite
Though assisted, by a cane
I still come, to prevent myself
From going insane.

I still journey,
To The Boardwalk
That reminds me
Of the best days, of my youth
A thought I share
As in my mind,
I see myself
Crossing the five mile
Finish line.

William, we all hold on to the dreams we've forever enjoyed. Whether they ever again become real..they forever live in our hearts. What our bodies fail to do as we age...our minds and hearts make up for. Enjoyed this..Lisa

Bill, this is great, wish I wrote it, LOL! Anything shore related I can relate too, I used to run on the beach, when in high school, just into the ocean to strengthen my legs for longer runs, but now, I am not too old, but I find it just fine to take my dog on the beach and run him, chase him a bit, but still...A wonderful write and read, keep walking on that boardwalk, it will help you to stay young, the shore rejuvinates & refreshes, the salt air I think does wonders...Peace thru the Write, Ed & Rufuz

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
