This is all about my hometown.
by Susan K. Rowse (de Vegter) It's great to be back in the bosom of love Where comfort abounds for my health As the marshes begin to whisper a breeze And the Herons display all their stealth Just then the waters open with froth To share her emerald tea features The fish are hopping with songs of the birds And the chatter of some distant creature Its part of the reason I love the south With all of her lovely guiles When a drive into town becomes a great treat Just to circle the squares for a while This graceful old lady smells of the moss And magnolias with jasmine aside She tugs at all senses with treasures galore During a midnight ride I'm deffinitely home as my senses run free When the air comes alive with great passion It's a birthright I own and nothing will change It's the Rebel I wear here in fashion I can go to the ends of this great earth Flirt with nations far off for a while Yet nothing can do it for me like home Right here where Savannah smiles. copyright 2006

I can almost close my eyes and pretend I was there. I have always had a desire to visit the South but my home in Nova Scotia, Canada is a long way from yours. However in your write I feel at home. Thank you for sharing a little bit of the South's hospitality with this poetic offering of your land.

I just love Savannah...and I just love Georgia period Susan !
I have very fond memories of sightseeing in Savannah, and driving along that amazing cobble road, through the incredible market, and along the river front !
And to see the setting sun sinking down on those Southern bayous is incredible
