This is one of my father's paintings. He called it "Blue Boy".
Susan
My Dad was an artist and the pictures that he drew
Made us all very proud of him
His talent...wisdom too
Some say he was a Shaman
In some life long ago
He taught his eight of nature
Our Earth...above...below
He said that we should put back
From nature what we took
Make this world much better
I could write a book
On Dad's philosophy
His natural way with people
The way he had with creatures
His strong Tuetonic features
We all learned of bravery
We never knew his anger
He was a proud Texan
He never met a stranger
Dad is gone and in his place
Eight smiles of talent plenty
To carry on in his good way
Then bow out very gently.
My 56k modem is choking on the size of the painting. Excellent. Great tributes to both your parents. I wrote a poem, Hanging On, about my father's fight with pneumonia last year. He got to read it before he died last November. Mom was with me last week and reluctantantly rode my other wheelchair through the huge MFA. She's super, too, having had identical twin boys at seventeen, and then fraternal twin boys 16 years later. she easily communicates with hundreds of friends and relatives and loves my books.
Your dad sounds like real texan, Susan; tough and tender at the same time. And his painting is really good, really soulful, and strikes a chord with me as I strum Mike Oldfield's 'Moonlight Shadow' on my borrowed guitar in a summer house in snowy winter. You were privileged to watch his (your Dad's) vision forming... :-) kenny

He sounds like a Shaman to me, Susan, and a marvelous loving father, and this is a wonderful tribute to him.
This is a remarkable and very fitting tribute to your late and great father Susan !
I concur completely with both Rage and Sage below, you show the utmost respect for your father, which I like to see, and the painting of your father's is quite magnificent, and contains cryptic designs and messages of spirituality
Astonishing work

This is a great family heirloom within itself, Susan. Passing this on from generation to generation will keep your familial artistic ties strong. Blue Boy painting, I can see an eagle in his left eye. This looks like a duality painting, like how the face divides like a mask, light on one side, dark on the other and the lower corner has a stained-glass look and the skeletal fingers give it a mystique feeling. Nice write and art, Susan.
A wicked Cajun Fairy named Robes Pierre entered the impenetrable Magical doll land of Sha Bebe. Queen Faustina, the ruler of the doll land, thought she had destroyed him, but he's back! Will the doll land survive his evil ways?
