Poem Artwork

I'm weary and scorched with sienna spots from a searching sun
One that poured its rays upon tender flesh while I had fun
The surfing tides washed me inside...out
Cleansing a fool of rushed wishes no doubt
Night calls from Ospreys hunting for snacks
Lusting like me from a passionate lack
Standing alone upon a beach of lost time
Frothing sea foam and a half hearted rhyme
Monitoring memories through the maze that stains
The heart of night's mistress laments all her pains
Soothing her heart from yesterday's years
Explaining the pain of her needs and her fears.

A gorgeously introspective and metaphysically reflective write. The spiritual fusion with nature seems almost symbiotic (maybe it is?) and creates a lush tapestry of the inner self very much at home in the external world.

Susan,

Powerful, the lure of the beach and your emotions...you've penned a winner here!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I love the pic, too.

I agree with Pierre below completely
And your imagery and sentiment are second to none..
Introspection is alright in small doses..
I prefer to be expansive..it's more healthy...;)

This is a powerful piece that speaks the serenity of the beach and how the beauty of the ocean can cleanse the heart and soul. I've certainly seen the peacefulness of the beach, before, and the healing power it provides is rather rejuvenating. Wonderful reflective poem and a great picture, too.

Standing alone upon a beach of lost time

I think I've stood out there a time or two myself. A very captivating poem, Susan.

Beautiful write my sweet friend and I think I just may have to respond to this one with the knowledge that it also brought me to that reflective mood where I walked without cares so many years ago. We cannot brood on what we have become but we can sure smile at the things we did and remember them fondly. Well done Susan.

When the pen is in your hand wonderous things then commence. This is no exception. Self-inspection is a cleansing mechanism for the soul.

While the searching sun has left it rich earth tone of Sienna as a visible mark on the skin …. the sepia tone of the photograph enriches the soul of quieter, more gentle times. Your work tonight in this as well as “silent stands the stranger” is by far some of your best poetry in my opinion. I have really enjoyed these two pieces….BTW, the photograph above is reminiscent to me as being in one of my old stomping grounds…Huntington Island. May not be, but it reminds me of it so well…thanks for the enjoyable reads tonight.

We have only so many hours and so many days to try to understand ourselves and each other. Many of us just throw most of them away, but some of us have learned how precious they are and we are thankful and try to cherish every one. I often find myself writing and remembering at the same time. Memories come alive in your words. Excellent writing. PIerre.
