The more you have, the more you're occupied; The less you have, the more freedom you own...Mother Teresa

Poem Artwork

We live material
love uncomitted
breed without feeling
look the other way
vote unlikely
with dedicated ignorance
die all the same
without material
dust to dust.

Ecclesiastes 3:20
Ecclesiastes 5:15
A wisest man ever
Did he ever find love?
Was he ever satisfied with what he was given?
Not for me to judge
But strangely no mention in Hebrews Chapter 11 of him
Then, neither is Adam.
Just letting you know what I thought of after reading your poem.
Has mankind changed in all these years?
Thanks for feeding me on a hungry day!

An excellent and wise summary quote!

A sobering picture, too, of human beings. Careless, flippant, preoccupied, distant, interested only in personal pleasure, unwilling to lend a hand, worshipping mammon instead of God ... etc.

Dixie bud ... you hit the nail on the head and sunk it in one swipe with this great succinct write!

In fraternity and friendship ...

Ah yes, the jaded age of Kali Jug, South Asians would say.
Excellent capture, Susan. Dedicated ignorance indeed...
Perfect pic.

Susan

I saw an empty hearse the other day, and this poignant write emphasised the finality and certainty of death..

Enjoy it while we can should always be uppermost in our minds..

Quite a spellbinding picture in the desert, would love to see that phenomenon !

Love and Peace

Sadly true my dear that greed is the overpowering ruler of the world, from the time a child grabs a toy from another as a toddler to yell "mine" until we prearrange our funerals so we our souls will not be embarrassed at our funerals greed pushes us on. In world affairs as in personal life greed does the same. Sad story but one great write you have offered us a lot to think about on this day.

So few words, such a lot said. Yes, we are a material civilization. It all began when humans invented things to make their lives easier and has grown into the monster that it is, but none of us REALLY want to go back to the old ways. We do love uncommitted, usually we profess love when it is actually base, physical yearning which possess us, probably eighty percent of the time. Vote our choices? Yep. What choices? the lesser of two evils most of the time. But we do die the same, from dust to dust. Like I said, so much said, so few words.

fortunately, there are those who have transcended this state of being ... they are the torchbearers, the bringers of light ... only then can dust transform into spirit ...

We were taught to live only materially by the world since we were born, It's a wonder any of us can still feel, a testament to humanity that some of us still realize the true importance of our lives. A pity that more of us can't see, we die all the same. You've said so much in so few words. From dust we came, to dust we shall return. So true. Pierre..

Little do we realise that the less we want, the more we get, the more we get the more we can give.
