This is an examination of self and the grasp for the second chance and the spiritual way the Universe has of taking care of her own.

Poem Artwork

I could have fallen further as I jacknifed and drowned
Preferring to be clueless to all that did abound
Here I stood grasping images... maps of distant places
Searching all my yesterdays among lines of tired old faces
With no inclination of what tomorrow brings
I lept into this abyss of pain and rusted things
I called upon my anger... this frustrated old soul
To this die'n individual with no inner goaI
Succumbing to life's cling and just grabbing at her straws
Knowing I was weaker because of all my scars
Putting all my anger and inner light aside
Preferring Hell's Chariot as a simpler way to ride
Down to despair and darkness... to the hole of nothingness
Down much deeper to the pitch to find the me in us
In a faint light it opened with no second chance for doubt
To literal suggestion I wrote my burning out
I quilled the final answer when my road stopped at strife
Came upon a second chance to redefine my life
I can see the focus now of eyes there looking back
And just because pains have a past when license is but lack
My sight is through a fog now to sunny smiles and things
Among a map of all my truths to the spirit's inner ring
Living now is graceful with an extra beat in here
For history repairs itself when wisdom has no fear
Then out of acid springs the sweet... the sugar of all pleasing
When love floats up with all the tears and donates all the reasons
Then open skies allow the soars of fetile birth and flying
When love abounds and dresses down the negative of die'n.

YOu've spilled a bit of your sould here, my friend...an all to familiar road and so many bits of your verse that ring true for me as well. You've hit that magical bell of poetry where the reader succombs to the images and metaphors of self, finding a way deep down inside the portals that you have created for yourself. We learn so much from our past experiences and mstakes and we can either chose to go down the tubes with them or hope for that little spark that lingers from the memory to burst into a flame of hope. Hang on to the sweet, Susan.
Love and hugs, Taylor

One of my favorite poets once wrote:
"Oh it's sweet to know
the wisdom that living brings."
I love the line you have penned here:
"For history repairs itself when wisdom has no fear"
To look inside one's self with courage and wisdom and see truth is the essence of coming to terms with this life -reconciliation is beautiful and empowering. This is a well written and well thought out piece of work and I'm glad I stopped by here today. Well done!

"Came upon a second chance to redefine my life I can see the focus now of eyes there looking back" Extraordinary and so close to what I'm feeling in my life right now. You've an uncanny knack to write what I'm feeling as usual. Thank you for this Pierre

"When love floats up with all the tears and donates all the reasons"... in a poem that so superbly and bravely takes on an entire debate and philosophy here, this line, for me, is the crux and the turn. Life and existance DO seem to be futile without and until LOVE!! Masterful encapsulation. You paint a picture of the substance of a single life that is multiplied in experience the world over, regardless of colour or creed. TY K xx

A finely written piece examining ones own sensory and perceptual experiences.

"Knowing I was weaker because of all my scars' creates in me a fine tension. Being that the physical scars are often tougher than the original skin, but the emotional aspect sometimes leaves us unwilling to further explore those areas where the wounds were incurred.

An excellent and personal write Belle ...

Wow Susan this is an intense, to say the least piece, that philosiphies your perceptions of love, life and spitituality to the letter. Sometimes sad, a hint of anger, a warm smile but always a heart willing to look ahead while not forgetting where you came from.
Sweet.

in the depths of intropsection reside clues revealing the universal nature of our design as opposed to the hopeless bewildered surroundings offering no inner goal ... seeking to repair the flaws within the map of truths will eventually lead us down the path where love will adorn life and the negativity of dying will cease to be, for we will have come to embrass there reality is no such thing ...

i found this poem both stimulating as well as sincere in its convictions and brilliantly written ...

Oh, I really love this. " Came upon a second chance to redefine my life"
Some are blessed with that chance. I sure have been! And you are so blessed when it comes to expression of these things. The writing is so personal and visceral, yet the brush strokes are so wide, your words are like a vision painted crystal mountainside.
much love and hugs,

Giving up, not caring then realizing what we have to look forward to.
